Posted 4 Oct 2026 · Ref. ZR-143

About the role

The Civil/Structural Engineering Lead (Marine Works) is responsible for technical oversight, design review, structural integrity, and engineering management across major port, harbor, and coastal infrastructure projects. Operating within a PMC environment, the successful candidate will lead structural design reviews, direct multi-package coordination, manage design risk, and ensure all marine civil works strictly comply with international marine design standards, safety protocols, and project specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Direct independent structural analysis, technical submittal reviews, and design approvals for heavy marine structures (quay walls, jetties, berths, mooring/berthing dolphins, breakwaters, dry docks, and intakes/outfalls).
  • Verify finite element models and structural calculations using SAP2000 and other structural design software.
  • Assess and enforce durability measures for severe marine exposure (corrosion protection, splash zone concrete design, cathodic protection, fatigue, and scour mitigation).
  • Lead value engineering, constructability reviews, and technical assessments to optimize design solutions and construction methods.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university (Mandatory).
  • Work Experience: Minimum 10 to 12+ years of progressive engineering experience, with significant delivery experience at the PMC or Owner's Engineer level on heavy civil and marine infrastructure projects.
  • Software Proficiency: Practical, hands-on experience with SAP2000 for structural modeling and dynamic analysis is required.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven track record in structural analysis, design review, multi-disciplinary coordination, and design risk mitigation for maritime works.
  • Advanced Education: Master’s Degree in Structural, Coastal, or Ocean Engineering (Strong structural design and management experience may substitute).
  • Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE / CEng or regional equivalent) strongly preferred; Project Management Professional (PMP) is an advantage.
  • Environment Experience: Proven background operating within complex, multi-package marine project environments.

Benefits

  • Serve as the principal technical interface between key project groups across multi-package project environments:
  • Design & Metocean Teams: Align structural parameters with hydrodynamic conditions, extreme wave/current loads, bathymetry, and scour profiles.
  • Geotechnical Teams: Integrate marine geotechnical investigation data, soil-structure interaction, piling capacities, and slope/retaining wall stability analysis.
  • Construction Teams & Marine Contractors: Resolve technical site queries (RFIs), evaluate pile driving records, review marine plant constraints, and validate offshore erection sequences.
  • Planning & Project Controls: Monitor design schedules, track consultant deliverables, and manage technical risk logs.
  • Formulate and implement design risk management strategies tailored to nearshore and offshore marine construction.
  • Ensure all engineering deliverables conform to relevant international codes (BS 6349, PIANC, Eurocodes, ACI 357, ISO marine structural codes).
  • Lead technical audit meetings, risk workshops, and stakeholder alignment sessions.
